Nagpur, India: A 30-year-old man was found murdered in Kandri village near Kanhan, Nagpur. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Kanhan police station in Parseoni taluka. The body was discovered on Monday, 25 March 2025, around 7:30 am.  

The victim was identified as Mahendra Tikaram Barve, a resident of Sadbhavana Nagar in Kandri. Mahendra had left home on Sunday night but did not return. His family searched for him in the village and nearby areas but could not find him.  

On Monday morning, Mahendra’s wife received a call from an acquaintance informing her that Mahendra was lying in a pool of blood at Harde Layout in Kandri. The family rushed to the spot and found that he had been murdered. They immediately informed the police.  

Police said that Mahendra was attacked with a sharp weapon and his face was later crushed with a stone, possibly to hide his identity. Blood-stained stones were recovered from the scene. Senior police officers arrived at the site, inspected the area, and sent the body to the Sub-District Hospital in Kamptee for post-mortem. A case of murder has been registered, and Assistant Police Inspector Roshan Bawankar is leading the investigation.  

Initial investigations suggest that Mahendra used to lend money on interest, and his murder may be linked to a financial dispute. The police believe the crime happened around midnight on Sunday.  

The police have not yet identified the suspects or determined the exact motive. However, five police teams, including a Local Crime Branch (LCB) unit, have been formed to catch the accused. Police are checking CCTV footage from the area and examining Mahendra’s phone records for leads.  

Investigations have also been extended to some areas in Madhya Pradesh where the suspect is believed to have escaped. The search is ongoing, and police are making all efforts to catch the culprits.
