4-Year-Old Girl Drowns in Uncovered Water Tank on Nagpur Terrace

A 4-year-old girl in Nagpur drowned after falling into an uncovered terrace water tank. Police have registered a case of accidental death.

Nagpur, India: A heartbreaking incident took place in Abbumia Nagar, Nagpur, where a four-year-old girl, Anam Bano, accidentally drowned in a water tank on the terrace of her home on 12 May.

Anam, daughter of Shamshad Khan, had gone out to play in the afternoon and didn’t return. Her family began searching for her around 5:30 PM. During the search, they found her unconscious inside a plastic water tank on the roof of their single-storey house.

The tank was not fully covered, making it easy for a child to fall in. Anam was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her brought dead. Her body was later sent to Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

The Wathoda police have registered a case of accidental death. Authorities are urging residents to ensure their rooftop tanks are safely covered to avoid such tragic accidents in the future.
