Nagpur, India: Residents of Kharsoli Layout in Nagpur are living in fear after a series of thefts rocked the neighbourhood, with reported losses amounting to ₹5.5 lakh. Despite repeated complaints, locals say the police have shown little urgency, raising concerns about growing lawlessness in the area.

Multiple houses in the layout were targeted in recent days, with thieves reportedly breaking in during the night and making away with cash and valuables. Victims allege that no proper investigation has been conducted and that police response has been sluggish at best.

One resident, whose home was ransacked, said, “We lodged a complaint immediately, but there has been no follow-up. There’s no patrolling, no arrests. We feel completely unprotected.”

The recurring incidents have triggered fear and frustration among locals, who now believe the lack of active policing is encouraging more crimes. Several residents have taken to installing CCTV cameras and securing their homes further.
