Under the direction of lawmaker Mohan Mate, the Public Works Department (PWD) has revealed a detailed plan for an 800-meter four-lane flyover that will connect Omkar Nagar and Mhalgi Nagar Squares in the South Nagpur assembly constituency.

The flyover, which crosses two assembly constituencies—including Nagpur South West, which is represented by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis—is intended to alleviate the increasing traffic jams.

Furthermore, the PWD's World Bank section has suggested building a flyover on the inner ring road to make driving to Manewada and beyond more convenient. As the city has grown to include Dighori and Umred Road, the ring road, which was once a peripheral route, has evolved into another arterial road.

The project, dubbed the "Manewada Flyover," is expected to cost roughly 50.4 crore and will have anti-crash barriers on its ramps to improve driver safety. The 17-meter-wide flyover, which has a one-meter divider, is designed to ease traffic congestion and provide a wider roadway by spanning over nearby nullahs using girders.

Deputy Engineer Mukul Deshkar of the World Bank division of the PWD underlined the flyover's unique features, such as increased ramps and anti-crash barriers, and its role in reducing road strain.

Early March is when the work order is expected to be issued, and it will take 24 months to complete from the start date. In order to guarantee long-term functionality, the contractor will also supervise maintenance for 20 years after completion.
