The Nagpur Rural Police have uncovered a 'contract killing' plot in the shooting incident involving a Deputy Sarpanch at Mangarul village in the Umred Police Station area. Three individuals, including the main accused and two hired killers, were apprehended by the police. A police spokesperson revealed that Rs four lakh was offered as a 'Supari' (contract killing) to target Gabbar Devrao Revatkar, a 42-year-old resident of Mangrul and Deputy Sarpanch.

The arrested individuals are Amol, also known as Rameshwar Vitthal Gandhare (30), a Mangrul resident; Karthik Rameshwar Panchbude (26), and Lakshman Tukaram Rathod (40), both residing in Telkawdasi in Umred Tehsil.

According to the police, the motive behind the murder plan stems from Gabbar's electoral victory over Amol. Additionally, Gabbar had reported Amol's involvement in the illegal liquor trade to the police, intensifying their animosity. Seeking revenge, Amol approached Laxman and his accomplice Karthik, offering them Rs four lakh to carry out the attack.

The incident occurred on a Tuesday morning after Gabbar's routine walk when he was targeted by Karthik and Laxman on a motorcycle. Laxman fired a shot from a pellet gun at Gabbar, after which the assailants fled the scene. Umred Police registered a case of attempted murder and initiated an investigation. Upon discovering Amol's involvement, the police promptly arrested him.

Subsequent investigations led to the apprehension of Karthik and Laxman. The trio has been handed over to the Umred Police. Amol has a history of illegal liquor sales and kidnapping, while Laxman has two murder cases registered against him at the Bela Police Station. The arrests were made under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Harssh Poddar, Add SP Dr. Sandip Pakhale, and coordinated by PI (LCB) Omprakash Kokate, API Ashish Singh Thakur, PSI Wagh, ASI Chandrasekhar Ghadekar, and other staff members.
