Nagpur, India: With tensions rising between India and Pakistan, AIIMS Nagpur has cancelled all staff leaves and stepped up its emergency preparedness. The move comes after the Union Health Ministry directed major hospitals across the country to stay ready for any medical crisis.
Hospital officials confirmed that only those on medical leave are exempt from reporting for duty. All others, including doctors, nurses, and support staff, have been asked to be present at work and stay on high alert.
AIIMS Nagpur has also stocked up on essential supplies like oxygen, medicines, and blood units. The hospital is preparing to handle any surge in emergency cases that may arise due to the current security situation.
This decision is in line with steps taken by other major hospitals, such as AIIMS Delhi, RML Hospital, and Safdarjung Hospital, following a nationwide review by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda.
The heightened state of alert comes after India carried out airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under ‘Operation Sindoor’, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. Since then, cross-border tensions have increased, and the country is preparing for all possible situations.
AIIMS Nagpur has assured that it remains fully functional and committed to providing uninterrupted healthcare services during this critical time.
