Nagpur, India: Ten months after it was announced, the ₹106 crore Manewada–Mhalgi Nagar flyover project in Nagpur has seen no real progress on the ground. Locals are growing frustrated as the construction remains stalled despite repeated promises and deadlines.

Initially, two separate flyovers one at Manewada Square and another at Mhalgi Nagar were approved in August 2024 at a combined cost of ₹73 crore. Later, plans were modified to create a single connected corridor with a third flyover linking both, turning it into a ₹185 crore three-in-one project.

However, the project remains in limbo. Except for a few barricades and minor piling work at Mhalgi Nagar, there has been no visible construction at either location. The General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) for the Manewada section is still pending approval, which has halted the start of piling work there.

Local residents and commuters say the stalled project has worsened traffic congestion in the area. Roads are partially blocked, but no progress is visible. Shopkeepers and traders have also voiced concerns about the ongoing inconvenience caused by delays and road restrictions.

Public Works Department (PWD) officials cite pending approvals, design revisions, and coordination issues as key reasons for the delay. While the revised plan promises better traffic flow once completed, there is no confirmed timeline yet for when full-scale construction will begin.

With monsoon season under way and daily commuters facing traffic jams, residents are calling on the authorities to speed up the process or offer temporary traffic solutions until work starts.

As it stands, the flyover remains only on paper with people waiting for action on a project that was meant to ease their daily commute.
