A curfew was enforced in certain parts of Maharashtra's Beed district on Monday evening as a result of widespread violence and arson during the ongoing Maratha reservation protest. Two MLAs and a former state minister were targeted by protesters, prompting the local administration to take action.

Internet services in Beed, located in central Maharashtra, were also disabled, according to an official. The curfew order was issued by Collector Deepa Mudhol Munde following a series of violent incidents and acts of arson directed at politicians' properties in Beed city and the district.

The order states that protests and hunger strikes are underway in various parts of the Beed district in support of the demand for government jobs and educational institution reservations for Maratha community members.

The agitation escalated from midnight of October 29, with buses and government vehicles belonging to various officials being set on fire in the district.

On Monday, marches were organized to government offices in the district, resulting in the burning and stoning of some of these establishments, leading to significant damage to both public and private properties, as stated in the order.
