A 15-month-old Bangladeshi girl who was critically ill and transferred to a private hospital in Nagpur on August 27 after her health declined on a Vistara aircraft to Delhi, passed away early on Thursday as a result of medical difficulties, a hospital official said.

The girl and her family were traveling on a flight from Bengaluru to New Delhi when it was rerouted and made an emergency landing at the Nagpur airport late on Sunday night. The toddler had a heart collapse mid-flight and lost consciousness. He claimed that fellow passengers started performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the infant right away.

According to Aejaz Shami, Deputy General Manager (Branding and Communications) at the KIMS-Kingsway Hospitals, where the girl was admitted, the youngster passed away at 3.15 am on Thursday after a valiant three-day battle. After numerous attempts at resuscitation both during the flight and throughout the transport to the hospital, the youngster was in a severe condition, he said in a release.

He stated that the youngster had a number of problems, including renal and cardiac failures. The hospital's workers and doctors provided the infant with round-the-clock treatment, but despite their "exemplary care," the child was pronounced dead at 3.15 am today.

As she began suffering multi-organ malfunction one by one, the girl's parents and other family members were constantly counseled and eventually came to terms with her fate, Shami added. He continued, "The hospital administration is attempting to send the child's lifeless remains to Bangladesh.
