A brutal double murder unfolded in Sai Baba Nagar, Wathoda, where two friends were killed over a financial dispute in the early hours of Friday. Within 24 hours, the police took four individuals, including two siblings and a juvenile, into custody for their direct involvement in the crime.

The victims were identified as Sunny Dhananjay Sarudkar (34) from Sharda Chowk, Jalalpura, and Krishnakant alias Kannu Bhat (30) from Nandanvan.

The suspects—Kiran Sheshrao Shende (32), his brother Yogesh Sheshrao Shende (25), both residing in Sai Baba Nagar, and Vikas alias Vicky Rajkumar Kohre (20) from Ranishaku Society, Pandi, along with a juvenile offender—were apprehended by a joint team from the Crime Investigation Unit of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-IV) and Wathoda Police.

The roots of the crime were traced back to Kiran Shende, who had purchased a motorcycle in Sunny's name through equated monthly instalments (EMI). Facing difficulties in repaying the EMI, Kiran borrowed money from Sunny but failed to fulfill his financial obligations. As calls from the finance company intensified, Sunny confronted Kiran around 12:15 am at the latter's residence in Sai Baba Nagar, accompanied by his friends Krishnakant and Manish Chandrashekhar Mohite.

A verbal altercation turned violent when Kiran, along with his brother Yogesh, Vikas, and the juvenile accomplice, attacked Sunny and Krishnakant with wooden rafters and stones. The victims sustained serious injuries and were pronounced dead upon reaching the Government Medical College & Hospital.

Based on the complaint filed by Manish Mohite, the police registered a case under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against Kiran, Yogesh, Vikas, and the juvenile, highlighting the tragic end to a financial dispute that escalated into a deadly confrontation.
