Nagpur, India: In a major crackdown, Nagpur Police’s Crime Branch raided a garment shop in Jaripatka and uncovered a stash of illegal e-cigarettes worth ₹1.88 lakh. The raid was part of the ongoing ‘Operation Thunder’ campaign targeting the illegal sale of narcotic and prohibited substances.
The shop, located in Barakhadi Chowk, had cleverly hidden the banned e-cigarettes inside shoe boxes. A secret storage area was also found, concealed behind a false panel in the changing room. The police also recovered CCTV cameras and recording equipment from the shop.
Two individuals were arrested during the operation shop owner Jitendra Solanki (36) and his employee Yogesh Chandekar (35). According to officials, the seized stock was allegedly procured from Delhi and was being sold illegally in the city.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP (Crime) Rahul Maknikar, ACP Abhijeet Patil, and Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal.
A case has been registered at Jaripatka police station under the E-Cigarette Prohibition Act. Further investigations are underway to identify the entire supply network involved in this illegal trade.
