Jaripatka Police have taken action against Head Constable Ravi Gajbhiye and three of his family members, charging them with abetting the suicide of his son-in-law, Shantanu Walde. Shantanu, a 25-year-old resident of Sugat Nagar, tragically took his own life on September 19. At the time, Jaripatka Police initiated a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Investigations unveiled a complex web of family disputes, as Shantanu had married Ravi Gajbhiye's daughter, Ritika, in a love marriage on November 16, 2021. Strained relations followed, leading to the couple's separation and Ritika's pregnancy termination without Shantanu's knowledge. The situation escalated, with Ritika and her father turning to the 'Bharosa Cell,' a family dispute resolution unit within Nagpur police.

Consequently, Pachpaoli Police arrested Shantanu, which, coupled with the criminal case, pushed him into depression and ultimately led to his tragic suicide. In light of this, Narendra Natthuji Walde, the father of the deceased, lodged a complaint alleging that his son took his own life due to false implications in the criminal case by Ravi Gajbhiye, Kartik Gajbhiye, Ritika, and another individual. Subsequently, the police registered an offence against the accused under Sections 306 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
