In a significant stride towards the expansion of Nagpur Metro Rail Project (NMRP), Maha Metro has recently issued tenders for the construction of viaducts on Wardha Road and Kamptee Road, marking the initiation of Phase II. The cumulative cost of these tenders amounts to a staggering ₹1,370 crore.
The entirety of Phase II of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project is estimated to incur a cost of around ₹26,700 crore.

Maha Metro has, thus far, put forth five tenders specifically for the construction of viaducts as part of Phase II. These tenders, totaling ₹72,400 crore, represent a critical phase in the expansion project.
Among the floated tenders, one has already been awarded to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a Central government public sector undertaking (PSU). RVNL is tasked with constructing half of the viaduct on Kamptee Road, and work has commenced on this stretch. According to sources within Maha Metro, after the viaduct construction phase, the subsequent tenders will focus on the construction of metro stations. This sequential approach mirrors the methodology adopted during Phase I of the project.

The tender for the Wardha Road stretch encompasses the construction of two double-decker flyovers, each spanning approximately 1 kilometer. These flyovers, located near Butibori, are expected to contribute to enhanced connectivity.

While progress is evident, challenges persist. The construction of one of the flyovers on Kamptee Road has encountered delays due to complications related to land acquisition.

This latest development underscores Maha Metro's commitment to the systematic advancement of Phase II, a critical infrastructure initiative aimed at transforming Nagpur's public transportation landscape.
