The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has launched the third phase of the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway expansion, connecting Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli districts.

This phase involves building a 127 km access-controlled expressway from Nagpur to Gondia, a 28 km segment from Bhandara to Gondia, and a 194 km section from Nagpur to Chandrapur, with an estimated project cost of Rs 18,475.2 crore.

The expansion aims to slash commuting time in Maharashtra's easternmost districts, opening up new prospects.

The Samruddhi corridor, spanning 700 km, links Mumbai to Nagpur and was inaugurated in two phases between December 2022 and May 2023.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 520 km stretch between Nagpur and Shirdi in December 2022, and the segment between Shirdi and Bharvir was opened in May 2023 by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Efforts are underway to complete the remaining 101 km stretch, with plans to make it accessible to traffic by July of the current year.
