The City Police's Economic Offences Wing (EoW) apprehended a Malaysian national, identified as Mike Lucy alias Baharuddin Bin Mohammad Yunus, along with four local accomplices. The group allegedly defrauded numerous individuals, amounting to over Rs 38.26 lakh, by falsely promising to double their cryptocurrency investments within 90 days. Mike Lucy, a native of Malaysia, had been wanted since 2017, with a lookout circular issued against him by the City Police. He was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi while attempting to board an international flight to escape the country.

Upon receiving information about Mike Lucy's apprehension, a team of EoW officers, led by API Sangharshi, HC Yogesh, and HC Nilesh, under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and Deputy Commissioner of Police (EoW) Archit Chandak, travelled to Delhi and took him into custody.

Facing charges under Sections 406, 409, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code, coupled with Sections 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978, Mike Lucy founded Future Bit Company. Collaborating with local associates Nishedh Wasnik, Abhijeet Shirgirwar, Shami Jaiswal, and Krishna Bhandarkar, the accused organized investment seminars at Radisson Blu Hotel, enticing unsuspecting individuals with promises of substantial returns on cryptocurrency investments.

The accused persuaded people to invest in cryptocurrency, assuring them that their money would double within 90 days. Transactions were conducted through their website www.thefuturebit.com, ultimately resulting in fraudulent activities. Earlier, EoW officers had arrested Nishedh Wasnik, Shami Jaiswal, Krishna Bhandarkar, and Abhijeet Shirgirwar, filing charges against them in court. API Mudhe is currently conducting further investigation into the case. Mike Lucy has been remanded in custody until January 12 for interrogations.
