In a recent operation, the cyber police successfully apprehended a member of a cybercriminal gang hailing from Rajasthan. The individual, identified as Rukmuddin Sahbuddin and residing in Alwar, Rajasthan, was involved in creating a fraudulent Facebook account impersonating the former Commissioner of Police, Amitesh Kumar, to carry out deceptive activities. The incident occurred on September 4, 2023.

The victim, Vinod Kadu, a resident of Giripeth and retired head clerk from the Commissioner of Police's office, fell prey to the scheme. He received a message from someone claiming to be CRPF officer Santosh Kumar via the fake Facebook account of Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. The imposter, posing as a friend of Amitesh Kumar, offered to sell furniture at a discounted price. Trusting the offer, Kadu agreed to purchase the furniture and transferred Rs 81,000 online.

Subsequently, "Santosh Kumar" requested Kadu to send additional funds under the guise of "Travel Allowance." This raised suspicions for Kadu, prompting him to report the incident to the former Commissioner of Police. A case was promptly registered at the cyber police station.

Further investigation revealed the presence of active cyber criminals in Alwar, Rajasthan. A police team was dispatched, leading to the arrest of Surendra Singh, Taufif Khan, and Sampatram Prajapati. Rukmuddin and two other accomplices remained at large. Upon learning of Rukmuddin's return, another team was sent to Alwar, successfully apprehending him. Rukmuddin was subsequently brought to Nagpur, and necessary legal procedures were initiated.
