Meteorological Department Forecasts Normal Monsoon Arrival in the First Week of June

The Meteorological Department has released its predictions for the upcoming monsoon season in India, stating that the monsoon is expected to arrive in the first week of June. Furthermore, the department forecasts an average of 96 % rainfall this year. Mumbai and Regional Meteorological Center chief, Sunil Kamble, shared this information with the media, providing insights into the monsoon outlook.
In a recent announcement, the Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that they anticipate normal rainfall of around 96 %this year, with a margin of error of approximately 5 %. Normal rainfall ranges between 96 and 104 %, while rainfall exceeding 110 %is considered heavy. Conversely, if rainfall falls below 90 %, it is considered a drought. Therefore, this year's expected normal rainfall brings relief to the agriculture sector and the overall economy.
The Meteorological Department will issue another monsoon forecast by the end of May, providing a clearer picture at that time. Sunil Kamble mentioned that detailed information regarding the monsoon's arrival in Maharashtra and its subsequent journey will be provided by the end of the month.
Based on the current weather conditions, it is likely that the monsoon will reach the Andaman Sea on schedule. The prevailing weather conditions indicate that the monsoon is expected to arrive in the Andaman region between May 20 and 21, following its usual path
