Nagpur, India: Crime Branch Unit 2 of Nagpur Police arrested a 26-year-old man in the Gittikhadan area for carrying a dangerous weapon, acting swiftly on a tip-off from an informer.

The accused, identified as Azim alias Abbu Kabir Beg, a resident of Gittikhadan, was found near Surendragarh in possession of a large iron knife. Police believe he may have been intending to use it for a criminal act. The weapon, valued at around ₹500, was seized on the spot.

The arrest was made under Sections 4/25 of the Arms Act and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Officials said the action was part of routine patrolling and intelligence-based surveillance to curb rising street crimes.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, including PI Rahul Shire and his team, with overall guidance from Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, and Additional CP Sanjay Patil.

Further investigations are underway to determine the motive and whether the accused is linked to any previous criminal activity.
