Nagpur, India: Nagpur continues to experience a spell of high temperatures, with little relief expected over the weekend. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast mostly sunny skies and consistently high daytime temperatures across the next three days.
Today’s weather remains hot and dry, with a high of 39°C and a low of 25°C. On Saturday, similar conditions are expected, with temperatures again peaking at 39°C and dipping to 27°C overnight. By Sunday, the mercury is likely to touch 40°C, accompanied by partly cloudy skies and a low of 27°C.
These rising temperatures are typical of Nagpur's pre-monsoon season but have become increasingly harsh due to factors such as rapid urbanisation and the urban heat island effect. The dry heat, coupled with low humidity levels, has made daytime conditions particularly uncomfortable.
Authorities have advised residents to take precautions, especially between 12 pm and 4 pm when the sun is at its strongest. People are urged to stay indoors during peak hours, drink plenty of fluids, wear light cotton clothing, and avoid strenuous outdoor activity.
As the city awaits the monsoon’s arrival in June, citizens are reminded to stay alert to weather advisories and protect themselves against heat-related health risks.
