Nagpur Municipal Corporation Gears Up for Monsoon with Action Plan

Nagpur Municipal Corporation prepares detailed monsoon action plan to tackle floods, power cuts, and emergencies with 24x7 control room.

Nagpur, India: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made a full plan to deal with the heavy rains expected during this year’s monsoon. The plan includes steps to handle flooding, waterlogging, fallen trees, building damage, and blocked roads.

The monsoon plan is led by Additional Commissioner Vasumana Pant. Manoj Talewar, Chief Engineer (In-Charge), will look after planning, while Fire Chief BS Chandankhede will manage emergency response operations.

Departments Involved
Six important departments will work together for this plan:


NMC has formed teams of officers from different departments. They will be ready to take quick action if any emergency happens during the rains. Officers will be on duty from 1st June to 30th September. A 24-hour control room is set up at the NMC headquarters. This control room will handle all emergency calls and coordinate help. Staff will work in 10-day shifts to ensure someone is always available.

Last year, heavy rains caused major flooding in Nagpur, especially around the Nag River. People are worried about similar problems happening again. The NMC hopes this plan will help prevent such issues.

The NMC says it is fully prepared and asks people to stay alert and report problems quickly. Working together, they hope to keep the city safe this monsoon.
