To commemorate the United Nations (UN) World Day against Trafficking in Persons, Prakruthi Organization organized a walkathon on Sunday from Ahinsa Chowk to Raja Rani Chowk. Over 650 individuals took part in the event.
To raise awareness about the need to make Nagpur the safest city in Maharashtra for women and children, the "Blue-A-Thon" walk was organized. Smt. Chetna Tidke, DCP-Traffic Police Department, Ms. Chhaya Gurav, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Ms. Rekha Sankpal, Charge and Nagpur Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), were present for the event's start. Senior members of the Nagpur Traffic Police, Nagpur City Police, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, Cyber Crime, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, etc. were among the other visitors.
The purpose of the gathering was to reach out to all trafficking victims and show solidarity in the fight against it. The walk spanned a distance of 1.5 kilometers from Aahinsa Chowk to Raja Rani Chowk and back. Over 650 individuals registered online and took part in a quick warm-up Zumba exercise. The key, game-changing promise of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations is to "reach every victim of trafficking, leave no one behind - identifiable groups vulnerable to traffickers." The Blue Heart (Blue-A-Thon) emblem symbolizes support for the victims and the callousness of those who trade in human beings.
"The purpose of observing this day is to raise awareness about the prevalence of this horrible crime, which is a violation of a person's fundamental human rights, and to recognize that human trafficking is a major issue. To solve the issue and safeguard everyone's rights and dignity, a concerted effort from all spheres of society is necessary, according to Smt. Chetna Tidke. Participants included youth from 30 colleges, members of Suraksha Samiti, and students from other hostels and institutions from around the city. Youth India Unchained is an effort that aims to develop young leaders who would seek to make the city safer for every women.
The Buland Jawab campaign and commitment, which attendees made in order to protect Nagpur's girls and fight for their rights, marked the event's conclusion. Prakruthi assists trafficking survivors in reintegrating into society with dignity in order to support them.
On Anti-Human Trafficking Day, Prakruthi Organization called attention to groups and people who can help in a variety of ways, including advocating for tougher laws and policies to combat trafficking, strengthening national resource management to strengthen prevention measures, and raising awareness of the issue to lessen vulnerability among young children. All of these efforts are part of a larger effort to combat the heinous crime/act.
