Nagpur, India: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Nagpur MP Nitin Gadkari has acknowledged that the Sadar (Liberty Square) flyover in Nagpur has design flaws and announced that a fresh repair plan has been prepared and will be implemented soon.

During a press interaction, Gadkari pointed out that a major design fault was identified between LIC Square and RBI Square. He stated that a revised proposal worth ₹34 crore has already been submitted, and repair work will begin once the necessary approvals are in place.

Gadkari also revealed that the current structure, with three landing points at Liberty Square, requires changes. One of the problematic landings will be redesigned, and the possibility of an additional landing near LIC Square is being considered to ease traffic congestion.

Apart from the Sadar flyover, he shared updates on several other key infrastructure projects in Nagpur:

Gadkari also joked that due to constant development, especially in East Nagpur, the city might soon run out of space for new flyovers. He credited MLA Krishna Khopde for actively pursuing these projects.

The minister’s remarks and updates have brought a sense of hope to residents who have been grappling with heavy traffic and infrastructure issues. With plans in place, the city now looks forward to improved connectivity and smoother transport in the near future.
