Nagpur, India: Ajni Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the heinous rape of a 16-year-old minor girl, following allegations that he lured her with false promises of marriage and used threats to force her into silence.

The accused, identified as Ayush Vinod Vairagade, a resident of Ajni, reportedly developed a relationship with the girl in 2023. Over the course of their communication on mobile phones, the young woman was allegedly manipulated and later sexually exploited by Vairagade.

According to police reports, between August 1, 2024, and June 18, 2025, Vairagade invited the girl to his home, where he forcibly engaged in physical relations with her. During this period, he is also said to have recorded obscene videos of the minor.

The police further stated that Vairagade exploited the victim’s age and repeatedly assaulted her. When the girl inquired about marriage, he allegedly threatened to upload the videos online, using intimidation and verbal abuse to silence her.

Following the girl’s complaint, the Ajni Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bombay Police Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. PSI Pankaj Bawane led the investigation, resulting in the arrest of the accused.

Police officials confirmed that further inquiries are ongoing to elucidate the full circumstances of the case and to ensure justice for the victim.
