In a compassionate move, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has announced that it will provide free copies of essential documents to citizens whose records were damaged during the recent floods. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari, issued this order on Wednesday, ensuring that documents such as birth certificates, mutation records, and more would be made available without charge.

On September 23, 2023, the city experienced torrential rain reminiscent of a cloudburst, resulting in severe flooding in multiple areas and significant property damage. As panchnamas (surveys) are underway to assess the extent of the damage and provide assistance to affected residents, citizens have reported the loss of crucial NMC-related certificates during the floodwaters' onslaught.

Recognizing that the absence of these documents could lead to inconvenience and difficulties for the affected citizens in the future, the Municipal Commissioner has taken a significant step to address this issue. The decision aims to ensure that all necessary documents provided by the civic body are made available to those who have been impacted by the floods.

The order has been issued to all relevant departments within the NMC, directing them to provide the required copies of documents to the flood-affected citizens at no cost. This collaborative effort demonstrates the municipality's commitment to supporting its residents during challenging times and helping them recover from the recent natural disaster.
