Following the successful execution of Operation Sindoor by the Indian Armed Forces, which targeted terror camps across the border, the Maharashtra government has stepped up security across the state to prevent any potential retaliatory threats.
Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik held a high-level video conference with all District Collectors and Police Commissioners on Wednesday. She instructed all security agencies to increase vigilance, especially around high-traffic areas and locations with historical or political significance.
In Nagpur, extra forces have been deployed at key sites like the RSS Headquarters in Mahal, Hedgewar Bhavan in Reshimbagh, and Deekshabhoomi. Round-the-clock patrols are being conducted, and beat marshals have been directed to remain alert in areas like Nandanvan, Kamptee, Jaripatka, and Yashodhara Nagar.
Plainclothes officers have also been stationed at major markets and public spaces to quietly monitor any suspicious activity. Meanwhile, the cyber police are actively scanning social media platforms to track down and prevent the spread of rumours or provocative content. Authorities have already taken action against several individuals involved in sharing fake news.
Chief Secretary Saunik urged all departments to respond swiftly to any alerts and maintain public confidence by ensuring visible and proactive law enforcement.
The enhanced security reflects the state's readiness in handling any fallout and its commitment to ensuring public safety amid ongoing national security concerns.
