Amitesh Kumar, the police commissioner of Nagpur, has adopted a harsh stance against cow slaughter and smuggling, suspending 8 police officers on the basis of an alleged audio clip involving a bribe transaction between police and members of the beef mafia.
In this case, 4 police officers have been transferred. A gang of cow smugglers has been operating fearlessly in Nagpur city for the past few days. Innova vehicles were being used to smuggle cows, and now that the police's complicity has come to light, CP Amitesh Kumar is taking action.
Despite a law prohibiting it, large-scale cow smuggling is thriving in the city despite the fact that cow slaughter and its smuggling are prohibited in Maharashtra. In addition to this, there are other slaughterhouses spread around the city. A policeman was recently kidnapped by cow smugglers, yet he was eventually found in Automatic Chowk.
As soon as the CP displayed strictness, the police department got to work. The Police Commissioner has been aware of every PI who was not working while knowing there were slaughterhouses operating nearby. As a result, the police have begun a targeted operation against the cow traffickers.
The city's butchers and cow smugglers are upset about this. Small vehicles are now being used by cow traffickers to flee from the police. Private vehicles used to smuggle cows are not subject to suspicion. However, while on surveillance, Panchpavali cops observed cattle entering one Innova vehicle. 2 accused vehicles fled as they were being pursued. Following an investigation, 9 cows were found and police have detained two suspects.
