A surprising incident took place at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) when two large rat snakes, measuring around 7 feet in length, entered the kitchen of the doctors' residence, causing a momentary commotion. However, quick action from doctors and dedicated snake enthusiasts ensured the safe capture of the reptiles and their subsequent release back into the wild.
The incident occurred on Friday around 5 pm when Dr. Umakant Mate, while walking around the hospital premises, came across a startling sight—two snakes near his own cottage. To his surprise, one of them had managed to enter the neighboring doctor's residence, raising concerns for the safety of the residents.
Understanding the urgency of the situation, Dr. Umakant immediately contacted renowned snake rescuer Sarmitra Sagar Sharad Sawale for assistance. Recognizing the potential risks involved in such encounters, Dr. Umakant directed Sagar and his fellow animal enthusiast, Shubham Parale, to Ward 8, TB Ward, within the GMCH compound.
Without wasting any time, Sagar and Shubham, both residents of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, hurried to the specified location. Drawing on their experience with handling snakes, the adept enthusiasts skillfully captured both reptiles, ensuring the safety of everyone involved by securing them in a bag.
Thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of the doctors and the snake enthusiasts, the two rat snakes were safely contained and later released into their natural habitat. The incident served as a reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation and the need to peacefully coexist with the diverse creatures that share our surroundings.
