Nagpur, India: Train operations on the newly approved Gondia Ring of Rail (RoR) line are set to commence this week, marking a significant boost to regional connectivity. The South East Central Railway (SECR) has received the green signal from the Railway Board, following successful inspections and safety clearances.

The RoR line is designed to form a loop around Gondia, connecting key rural and semi-urban areas in the district. It aims to decongest existing routes and offer faster, more accessible transport options for daily commuters, traders, and students.

Initial services will include MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) trains, which are expected to run twice daily. These short-distance trains will benefit thousands of passengers by cutting travel time and offering a cost-effective alternative to road transport.

Railway authorities confirmed that trial runs have been completed successfully and commercial operations will begin mid-week. Timetables and ticketing details are being finalised, and passengers are advised to check official railway apps and station announcements for updates.

Local residents and business owners have welcomed the move, hoping the new rail link will improve connectivity, support local commerce, and reduce dependency on road travel.

The Gondia RoR project is seen as a strategic step towards modernising regional rail infrastructure, with further expansions likely based on public response and passenger demand.
