In the past 24 hours, two tragic incidents occurred during the night between Wednesday and Thursday. These events unfolded in the areas covered by Pratap Nagar and Kalamna police stations.

In Pratap Nagar, a young man, driven to the edge by his mother's suffering at the hands of his alcoholic father, resorted to violence. The victim in this case was 45-year-old Sanjay Shankarrao Nidhekar, a resident of Subhash Nagar, who had succumbed to alcohol addiction and had neglected his responsibilities. He spent his days at home, immersed in alcohol consumption, and subjected his wife Pinky to relentless abuse during his drunken stupors. Sanjay's family consisted of his wife, their 20-year-old son Sahil (the accused), and a younger son named Himanshu.

Sahil, deeply troubled by his father's continuous mistreatment of his mother, had already chosen to reside at his grandmother's house in Pandhrabodi. He made a living by selling Poha at Shankar Nagar Square. On the fateful Wednesday night, as usual, a drunken argument escalated between Sanjay and Pinky, culminating in Sanjay violently kicking Pinky in the stomach. Witnessing this brutal act, Sahil was consumed by anger. Pinky, seeking safety for herself and Himanshu, went to her mother's house in Panchibodi. Sahil, who had already sought refuge at his grandmother's place, eventually decided to confront his father.

Sahil borrowed his uncle's bike and returned home in search of Sanjay. Upon his arrival, he discovered that his father had headed in the direction of his grandmother's house. Sahil, armed with a knife, tracked down his father at Vivekananda Square. There, he confronted Sanjay and engaged in a heated argument. During this altercation, Sahil resorted to a knife attack, inflicting serious injuries on his father. Authorities from Pratap Nagar Police and Crime Unit-1 promptly arrived at the scene, but Sanjay's injuries were too severe, and he was declared dead upon reaching the hospital.

PI Subhash Chaudhary of Crime Unit-1 and his team initiated an investigation that led to Sahil's arrest. Before these events, Sahil had worked at a restaurant but had transitioned to selling Poha after leaving that job, while his younger brother was employed at a bar. Both contributed to Pinky's household income. In response to Pinky's complaint, the police have registered a murder case.

In a separate incident, a young man lost his life in a dispute arising from verbal abuse. On the night of September 27th, Premchand Dhanesh Nishad, a 21-year-old resident of Om Sai Ram Society, Vijay Nagar, attended the mahaprasad organized by Rambhoomi Ganesh Mandal. While returning, an altercation occurred between him and 18-year-old Bhupendra Firturam Bagmaria, a resident of Dharma Nagar. Premchand and his friends had engaged in mutual verbal abuse, which caught the attention of Bhupendra's uncle, who was present with his family.

Bhupendra's uncle admonished Premchand and his companions, urging them to refrain from their verbal exchange due to the presence of women. A confrontation ensued between the two parties, resulting in Bhupendra's uncle slapping Premchand multiple times. In response, Premchand left the area but later returned with a group of ten to twelve friends on Friday at 9 p.m., intending to engage in a conversation with Bhupendra's family. This confrontation escalated, leading to a dispute between Premchand and Bhupendra.

The altercation took a fatal turn when Bhupendra stabbed Premchand in the chest with a knife, causing severe injuries. Premchand was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Kalamna police registered a murder case and subsequently arrested Bhupendra, who worked in a chicken shop. These incidents have left the community tense, and local law enforcement is under significant pressure as two murders occurred within 24 hours.
