Following an eight-month delay, the Wadi flyover project receives a financial injection of 7.22 crore from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). This funding is earmarked for elevating the height of high-tension electric cables over Amravati road near the Hingna-Wadi T-point, raising it from 10.5 meters to 28 meters.
The national highways division of the state Public Works Department (PWD), the executing agency for the flyover, has obtained approval from the chief managing director of MSETCL in Mumbai to increase the height of three monopoles.
Media reports indicate substantial progress on the opposite side of Amravati road, while construction at Hingna-Wadi T-point awaits approvals from MoRTH. Umair Inamdar, the sectional engineer with the national highways division, notes that the ministry has granted technical approval and allocated 7.22 crore for the project.
The construction on the Wadi police station side is complete, leaving only a 120-meter stretch from the Wadi T-point to the Wadi Gurudwara side. The cable relocation process is slated for completion by the end of January, with civil work finishing by February. Inamdar predicts the flyover will be open to vehicular traffic by March 2024. Upon completion of civic work, momentum will shift to the flyover from RTO to University Campus square, which is expected to be ready by late 2024.
