Nagpur, India: Commuters travelling through the Jaripatka area of Nagpur are facing serious safety risks due to the worsening condition of the road near Jhulelal Park, particularly between Shivgiri Chowk, Om Nagar, and Arcado Tower III.
A large, water-filled pothole in front of Arcado Tower III has become nearly invisible due to stagnant water, especially after recent rainfall. With no proper drainage in place, the road has become a hazard, making it difficult for two-wheeler and four-wheeler users to judge where the road ends and the pothole begins.
Rajiv Bhagchandani, a local resident, shared his close encounter: “While dropping my daughter for her class, I almost lost control of the vehicle. You can’t see the pothole at all. It’s just a pool of muddy water.”
Locals complain that despite multiple appeals, there has been no response or action from civic authorities. Many residents are unsure about where and how to lodge complaints, and feel that their voices are being ignored.
The road has reportedly been in a damaged state since early June. With the monsoon approaching, residents fear that the condition may deteriorate further, increasing the risk of accidents.
Citizens are now urging the Nagpur Municipal Corporation to take immediate action to repair the road, clear the waterlogging, and provide a safer commuting route before the situation worsens.
