Nagpur, India: The Nagpur Crime Branch has busted a sex racket operating from a residential flat in Wathoda, arresting a woman involved in running the operation, while her male accomplice managed to escape.
The raid was carried out on Tuesday evening by the Social Security Branch (SSB) following a tip-off. The team targeted a flat in the Green City area, where they found a young woman being forced into prostitution. She was immediately rescued and placed under protective care.
The arrested woman, aged 35, allegedly lured women into the sex trade and arranged clients through phone calls. She had been using the flat for these illegal activities for some time. Her associate, who is believed to be equally involved in the operation, fled the spot before police arrived and is currently on the run.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA). The investigation is ongoing, and police are actively searching for the absconding accused.
The Crime Branch has reiterated its commitment to cracking down on illegal activities and urged the public to report any suspicious behaviour in their localities.
