Nagpur, India: A 32-year-old worker tragically lost his life after a fire broke out during boring work behind the D-Mart store in MIDC Nagpur on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred when a sudden blaze erupted, reportedly due to sparks generated during the drilling process.
According to initial reports, the fire spread quickly, leaving the worker severely injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Fatima Nagar but succumbed to his burn injuries shortly after admission. The deceased was part of a maintenance crew working at the site.
Authorities suspect that flammable materials stored close to the boring site may have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause and whether proper safety measures were in place.
The MIDC fire brigade responded swiftly to contain the fire and prevent further damage. Police have registered a case and are examining whether there was any negligence involved in handling the worksite and materials.
This tragic incident has raised fresh concerns about safety compliance at industrial sites in the city. Officials have called for immediate inspections of similar work locations in the MIDC area to prevent such mishaps in the future.
