18 hours of CCTV Footage Missing From NIT Pool

The recent drowning incident of an engineer at the NIT swimming pool has taken a troubling turn with the revelation that crucial CCTV footage of the event is missing. The engineer, identified as Kunal Kishore Salpekar (37), was a resident of Abhyankar Nagar and worked in the marketing department of L&T Company.

On April 23, Kunal, known for his regular evening swims, tragically drowned around 8:30 pm. The Bajaj Nagar Police promptly registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation. However, they discovered a significant gap in the CCTV footage from 3 am to 9 pm on the same day.

Speculations have arisen that the footage might have been intentionally deleted to conceal the circumstances surrounding Kunal's death. Despite the management attributing the gap to a technical glitch, authorities are investigating the matter closely. Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Singh Rajput has stated that if negligence is proven on the part of the management, appropriate action will be taken.

Meanwhile, the police await the post-mortem report, and Kunal's relatives seek answers regarding the delayed hospital admission and absence of a coach during his swim. Plans are in place for Kunal's relatives to meet Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Singal to demand a thorough investigation and accountability.

In pursuit of justice, the Salpekar family and Kunal's friends have filed a complaint against the negligent contractor and his workers, urging for legal action under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. As the investigation progresses, the community remains hopeful for clarity and justice in Kunal's tragic demise.
