28-Year-Old Dies While Filming Reel on Tracks; RPF Launches Awareness Drive

Nagpur, India: In a tragic incident that highlights the growing dangers of social media obsession, a 28-year-old man lost his life while attempting to film a reel on a railway track in the Nagpur Division. The Railway Protection Force (RPF), South East Central Railway (SECR), has since issued a firm warning urging the public to avoid trespassing on railway property for content creation.

The deceased, identified as Akash Rathore from Kareli in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh, was hit by a moving train between Ghansour and Vineki while shooting a video. Despite the locomotive driver sounding repeated horns, Akash failed to clear the track in time and was fatally struck. His friend Nitin Yadav, who was present, rushed him to Ghansour Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

This incident is part of a worrying trend — 97 run-over cases have already been reported in SECR Nagpur Division this year alone. The RPF has reiterated that railway tracks are not meant for photography, filming, or any kind of unauthorised activity, all of which are punishable under the Railway Act.

Divisional Security Commissioner Deep Chandra Arya called upon the public, especially youth and social media influencers, to act responsibly. He appealed to media houses and content platforms to raise awareness about the dangers of such acts.

“We urge people to value their lives over viral videos. Please do not risk your life for a few likes or views,” Arya stated.

The RPF has also stepped up awareness campaigns in villages and communities near tracks, educating locals about the dangers of crossing or lingering on railway lines.

The message from the authorities is clear — safety must take precedence over stunts. The tracks are for trains, not for reels.
