Coming Soon: Shared Auto-Rickshaw Service for Nagpur Metro Stations

The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) is set to introduce a shared auto-rickshaw service to enhance last-mile connectivity for Nagpur Metro commuters. This initiative will cover all 37 metro stations across Nagpur, offering an affordable feeder service.
Recently, Maha Metro submitted a proposal to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for a survey of the areas surrounding the 37 stations, including details of distances for routes to and from the stations. Additionally, a request letter was sent to determine the fares for the auto-rickshaws.
In a meeting chaired by Shravan Hardikar, Managing Director of Maha Metro, at Metro Bhavan, discussions included Rambhau Geete, Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Nagpur (City), Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Chetana Tidke, and officials from the Transport departments of NMC and Maha Metro.
Geete informed the meeting that a proposal for fare fixation had been submitted to DCP Traffic, who assured prompt clearance. Once approved, it will be forwarded to the District Collector, the Chairman of RTA (Regional Transport Authority), for final approval.
The feeder service aims to provide convenient first and last-mile connectivity for metro commuters, with the auto-rickshaw fare to be determined by the RTA according to the proposal.
Meanwhile, Hardikar instructed metro officials to identify parking lots in the city and collaborate with the Traffic Department of City Police for a joint survey. This step ensures the effective and efficient implementation of the shared auto-rickshaw service.
