Criminals Make Away with Rs 4.38 Crore in Cash at Gunpoint

On Tuesday night, a group of seven criminals stopped a cash-carrying SUV on the Outer Ring Road and stole Rs 4.38 crore at gunpoint. The money believed to be part of 'hawala' transactions, was on its way to Surat, Gujarat. The incident occurred near Kotewara village under Hingna Police Station's jurisdiction. The police were puzzled about the criminals' identity until late Wednesday night.
The stolen cash belonged to Popatlal Patel, residing in Suraj, Gujarat, and the owner of Aadi Travels in Nagpur. Patel's employees, Kalpesh Juluji Parmar and Jayesh Patel were transporting the money in a Tata Nexon SUV. The criminals strategically blocked their path using two other vehicles, an Innova SUV and a Swift car.
The assailants forced Kalpesh and Jayesh out of the SUV, interrogated them about the cash, and then took them in separate cars to Kotewara, three kilometres away. One of the criminals drove the Nexon SUV to a designated location, where they stole the cash from the vehicle's dickey. They fled the scene in their vehicles after taking the victims' phones. The entire incident occurred between 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm on Tuesday, but Patel reported it to the police at 8:30 am on Wednesday.
Hingna Police Station registered a case under the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act and is actively reviewing CCTV footage to identify the culprits, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP Detection) Mumakka Sudarshan.
