Fatal Accident Involving Private and MSRTC Buses

A tragic accident occurred near Nandra Dhande intersection in Mehkar tehsil of Buldhana district, where a speeding private bus collided with a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus on Saturday. The incident resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to two other passengers.
Anjali Gopal Sharma, a 26-year-old resident of Chikhli town, was killed on the spot due to the force of the collision. Murlidhar Narayan Ingle (67), from Buldhana, and Mahadev Gopal Ubale, from Risod in Washim district, sustained injuries and were taken to Rural Hospital in Mehkar for treatment.
The crash occurred when the MSRTC bus (MH-20/BL-2377), traveling towards Mehkar, was hit from behind by the speeding private bus (AR-20/9200). The impact was severe, causing the tragic fatality and injuries. Senior officials, including Senior Assistant Workshop Superintendent Rahul Deshmane, ST Inspector Samdhan Jumale, and Clerk Pravin Tangade, reached the scene to conduct a panchanama (inspection report).
The authorities provided immediate financial aid of Rs. 210,000 to the kin of the deceased and Rs. 5,000 to the injured persons. Despite the severe nature of the accident, no formal offence was registered at the time of filing this report.
On the same day, a separate incident occurred in Yavatmal district, where a cement mixer truck hit an MSRTC bus carrying 50 passengers. The bus was traveling at Nandgavhan Ghat when it was struck from behind by the truck. Fortunately, the bus hit a protective wall, preventing it from falling into the gorge, which could have led to a major tragedy. All passengers were safely rescued with the help of a JCB machine. This incident marks the third accident in the area within four days, indicating the location has become accident-prone.
