Nagpur, India: A Nagpur-based man has alleged that IndiGo Airlines charged him over ₹8,000 after cancelling his Chandigarh to Mumbai flight. The flight was cancelled by the airline itself due to current tensions between India and Pakistan.
The passenger, who had booked the ticket through a third-party travel platform, said he paid more than ₹10,000 for the ticket but only received ₹2,050 as a refund. He shared a screenshot on social media and accused the airline of “blatant thuggery.”
Responding to the claim, IndiGo clarified that they had issued a full refund from their side and that the issue might be with the travel agent or the booking platform used. The airline advised the customer to contact the third-party service directly for resolution.
This case is not isolated, as several other passengers have recently reported confusion and complaints about refund deductions for cancelled flights. IndiGo had cancelled multiple flights to and from cities like Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until 13 May due to safety concerns.
Passengers are urged to check their booking source’s refund policies and contact the airline or travel agent for any discrepancies.
