Nagpur, May 20, 2025: In a major step towards improving traffic flow and restoring order in Sitabuldi’s busy commercial zone, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has removed unauthorised encroachments from Sitabuldi Main Road. Following the clearance drive, the Nagpur Traffic Police have introduced a new parking plan to ease congestion and ensure smoother movement of vehicles.
The updated parking rules came into effect on May 19 and outline specific zones for two-wheelers and four-wheelers along Sitabuldi Main Road.
Designated Two-Wheeler Parking Zones:
-
Left side from Bala Footwear at Variety Square to Raja Opticals.
-
Left side from Silky Lingerie to Khadi Gram Udyog shop.
-
Left side from Joshi Ice Cream to the old Parekh Jewellers, excluding the areas near Rajaram Library Gate, Temple Bazaar Road, and in front of Rakesh Telange’s house.
-
Right side from Venkatesh Market to Parekh Jewellers, excluding roads leading to Modi Nos. 1, 2 and 3.
Designated Four-Wheeler Parking Zone:
-
Right side of Sitabuldi Main Road from Bombaywala to Dream Shoppee.
To prevent further obstructions, street vendors and hawkers have been strictly barred from setting up within a 30-metre radius of key roads and intersections.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Archit Chandak confirmed that enforcement would be firm. “We will strictly implement the parking guidelines on Sitabuldi Main Road. Eleven such city roads have been identified for on-street parking, and notifications have been issued.”
The move has been welcomed by local business owners and shoppers, who say the area had become increasingly chaotic due to illegal stalls and disorganised parking. Authorities hope the new rules will restore order and make Sitabuldi safer and more accessible for pedestrians and motorists alike.
