Government Seizes Drugs Worth Rs 50,000 Crore in Recent Months

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis raised concerns in the State Assembly about the escalating drug addiction issue in Maharashtra. He highlighted the establishment of an Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the seizure of approximately Rs 50,000 crore worth of drugs recently. Fadnavis, also the Home Minister, noted an increase in drug seizures and mentioned steps taken to tackle the problem.

Responding to queries about the arrest of Lalit Patil and the state's actions, Fadnavis clarified the seizure amount and steps taken against drug proliferation. He mentioned the removal of 2,200 small shops selling drugs in Mumbai and emphasized the collaborative approach proposed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to combat drug-related issues.

In response to the Rs 300-crore drug bust, Fadnavis addressed concerns about key accused Lalit Patil and dismissed four policemen linked to him. Plans for Drug De-addiction Centers were accepted, with Fadnavis assuring their establishment in the State. Measures, including monitoring courier services for drug supply and introducing detection gadgets, were also mentioned to counter drug smuggling activities.
