Gun Smuggling Ring Busted, 8 Weapons Seized in Mominpura

The city police have successfully dismantled a gun smuggling operation in Mominpura, leading to the confiscation of eight firearms and 84 rounds of ammunition from the criminals involved. This operation was initiated as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Jamil Ahmed.

To recall the incident, on the night of October 24, notorious criminal Parvez Khan, with the assistance of his accomplices Salman Khan and Ashish Bisen, tragically took the life of lodge operator Jamil. Parvez had acquired the murder weapon from the Mominpura criminal, Firoz Khan, and subsequently, the police recovered a firearm and two rounds from Parvez. Following this, Adnan Khan, known as Ashu, who aided Firoz and Parvez in their escape, was apprehended.

Firoz had long been engaged in the illicit trade of firearms and ammunition to the criminal elements in the city. An exhaustive investigation brought to light that a criminal named Irfan from Chhindwara was orchestrating the sale of firearms and ammunition within the city. Irfan was arrested by the police on a Sunday night.

Irfan had been residing in the Kalmana area for the past six months and was found in possession of a firearm and 82 rounds. Under intense police scrutiny, Irfan confessed to supplying firearms to Firoz and other criminals. Subsequently, two additional firearms were recovered from Firoz's residence. Acting on information provided by Irfan and Firoz, two firearms each were also discovered at the residences of Monu in Hasanbagh and Mohsin in Ganeshpeth. In total, eight firearms and 84 rounds have been seized in this operation.

Investigations revealed that Irfan played a pivotal role in the arms smuggling network. Originally hailing from Chhindwara, he also faced Arms Act charges in that region. With Firoz's assistance, he was involved in the illegal trade of weapons and ammunition in Mominpura.

Today, the Tehsil police presented Parvez, Salman, Ashish, Adnan, Firoz, and Irfan in court. While the custody of Firoz and Adnan was extended for five days, the others were remanded to judicial custody. Additionally, an Arms Act case was registered against Monu in Nandanvan and Mohsin in Ganeshpeth.

This operation, under the guidance of DCP Gorakh Bhamre, has raised questions about the effectiveness of the Tehsil Police, as it appears that the gun trade was flourishing right under their noses in Mominpura.
