Nagpur, India: In light of growing tensions between India and Pakistan following a terror strike in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, Nagpur City Police have declared the entire city a ‘No Drone Zone’ from 18 May to 3 June 2025.
The order, issued by Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singal, is aimed at tightening security and preventing any aerial threats. It prohibits the use of drones, UAVs, paragliders, hang-gliders, hot air balloons, microlight aircraft, and other non-conventional flying objects.
This security step follows India's recent military action, Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Though a ceasefire was announced on 10 May, intelligence agencies have warned of potential retaliatory activity, prompting heightened vigilance.
Under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, the ban is being enforced strictly. Exceptions may only be granted to government departments and critical services, provided they receive a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from both the General Manager of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch).
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate fully and report any suspicious flying activity, as violating the order could result in legal consequences.
This move is part of a broader nationwide alert to ensure public safety amid the current geopolitical strain.
