IMD Issues Orange and Yellow Alerts for Vidarbha from 20th to 22nd March

Nagpur, India: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a sudden change in weather conditions across Vidarbha after an early onset of summer this year. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued for various districts between 20th and 22nd March, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.  

An orange alert has been issued for Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gondia, Wardha, and Yavatmal on 21st March, with a similar alert in place for Washim and Gondia on 22nd March. These areas are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds of 40-50 km/h, and possible hailstorms in isolated places.  

IMD has also predicted scattered rainfall in some parts of Vidarbha on 20th and 21st March. While there will be no significant change in maximum temperatures for the next 48 hours, a gradual drop of 2-4°C is expected thereafter.  

Residents are advised to stay cautious and take necessary safety measures during this period.
