Kamptee Man Arrested for Luring Women into Fake Relationships, Extortion

Nagpur, India: A man from Kamptee has been arrested by Kanhan Police for allegedly luring several women into fake romantic relationships, sexually exploiting them, and blackmailing them using private photos and videos.

The accused, Arjun Rajendra Kanoje (30), reportedly posed as unmarried to deceive women. One of the victims, a senior IT professional, met him five years ago during a land-related meeting in Kalmeshwar. Over time, he built a relationship with her, eventually convincing her to accompany him to a hotel in Ramtek on 18 December 2024, where he allegedly forced himself on her and secretly recorded intimate content.

Later, Kanoje used these recordings to threaten the woman, demanding money and material benefits. The victim said she financed a car for him and transferred large sums out of fear. When she learned that Kanoje was actually married, she tried to end the relationship — but the threats continued.

During this time, the woman discovered that she was not alone — several other women had also been trapped and blackmailed by Kanoje in a similar manner. These victims reportedly paid him lakhs of rupees to stop the circulation of their private content.

Kanhan Police have booked Kanoje under charges of rape, extortion, and criminal intimidation. He is now in custody as investigations continue.

Police have urged other victims, if any, to come forward and assured full support and confidentiality during the process.
