K.K. Gopalakrishnan takes up an additional responsibility as SCZCC's director, in Nagpur

One of India's seven Zonal Cultural Centers is the South Central Zone Cultural Center in Nagpur. On November 6, 2023, a Thursday, Shri K. K. Gopalakrishnan took on a new role as the Director of the South Central Zone Cultural Centre in Nagpur. Deputy Director in Change Shri Deepak Kulkarni received Shri K. K. Gopalakrishnan at the Nagpur office on Monday, November 20, 2023. 

The director of the South Zone Cultural Centre in Thanjavur is K. K. Gopalakrishnan. He left his position as an officer at the State Bank of India to pursue his education in painting. He has also held the position of director of the Sangeet Natak Akademi's Center for Kutiyattam in Delhi.  

Kerala performing arts traditions and culture are captured by writer and photographer K. K. Gopalakrishnan. He contributes to The Hindu's Friday Review, Literary Review, and Sunday Magazine. He has written extensively on arts and culture topics and is a renowned performing arts critic and expert. He is one of the few founder-life members of Kannur Center's Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Kerala).

In addition to writing for India Perspectives, the magazine of the Indian Embassies Abroad, and Indian Horizons, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), he contributed chapters on literature and the arts to the book Pathfinders: A Journey Through India's Art and Culture. The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has awarded him the Tagore National Research Scholarship. He just studied Kalarippayattu as an art form.

In the dance and theater book categories on Amazon, his highly regarded book "Kathakali Dance-Theatre - A Visual Narrative of Sacred Indian Mime" ranked third and fourth, respectively. Niyogi Books will shortly release his illustrated academic book on Theyyam, the traditional ritual tradition of cult worship in Northern Kerala.
