Man Released on Bail Runs Over Girl Who Accused Him of Assault

After being accused of sexual exploitation last year, Raj alias Raghvendra Radhyeshyam Yadav (31), a resident of Aishwarya Residency in Vasudeo Nagar, Hingna, was arrested by Gittikhadan Police for attempting to kill the girl who had filed the complaint against him. Raj, a transporter, had befriended the 23-year-old victim through Instagram in 2020 and allegedly assaulted her in the Hingna area. Following the victim's complaint, Raj was arrested on December 5, 2023, and remanded to magisterial custody.

After being released on bail on January 10 this year, Raj re-encountered the victim at Telangkhedi Hanuman Mandir on Monday evening. Upon seeing him, the victim decided to leave, prompting Raj to chase her in his Mahindra XUV500 car (MH-31/FA-5269) from the temple to the TV Tower on IBM Road. He collided with her scooter from behind, causing her to fall, and then allegedly attempted to run her over before fleeing the scene. Prompt intervention by residents led to the girl being rescued and rushed to the hospital, where police were notified.

Acting on the victim's complaint, police arrested Raj again and charged him under Section 307 (Attempt-to-murder). Further investigations are ongoing.
