Nagaland Police Nab Two in Rs 55 Lakh Fraud Case from Nagpur

The Nagaland Police have apprehended two individuals in connection with a fraud case amounting to Rs 55 lakh. The suspects, identified as Amul Prakash Tong (40) residing in New Sneh Nagar, and Prateek Jairam Nikhade (35) from Asmit Apartment, Bajaj Nagar, were nabbed during a raid conducted in Nagpur. The two, operating a sports equipment and furniture sales outlet in the Padole Nagar vicinity under the jurisdiction of Rana Pratap Nagar police station, allegedly duped a doctor from Dimapur, Nagaland.
In 2021, the doctor approached Tong and Nikhade with plans to establish a game zone and requested materials. A deal was brokered, with the doctor transferring Rs 55 lakh to the fraudsters. However, after receiving the payment, they failed to fulfil their end of the agreement. Despite repeated attempts by the doctor to communicate with them, assurances from Tong and Nikhade regarding the imminent delivery of materials went unfulfilled.
Subsequently, the doctor filed a complaint with the Dimapur police, initiating a fraud case. A team from Nagaland, with the assistance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-I Anurag Jain, arrived in Nagpur on Saturday. Sonegaon police were instructed to aid in the apprehension of the accused. Following their arrest, both suspects were presented in court. Upon obtaining the production warrant, the Nagaland Police transported Tong and Nikhade back to Nagaland for further legal proceedings.
