Nagpur City Congress Committee Minority Cell Protests High Tomato Prices
The Nagpur City Congress Committee (Minority Cell) recently organized a unique protest on Central Avenue, led by Wasim Khan, the Committee's President. The protest was in response to the soaring rates of tomatoes, which have become a matter of concern for the public.
During the demonstration, the protesters showcased tomatoes as a valuable commodity, placing them inside a jewellery box and assigning two bodyguards to protect it as they marched towards the bank to secure it. This creative protest aimed to draw attention to the escalating prices of tomatoes and the financial burden it places on the common people.
Addressing the gathering, Wasim Khan held both the State and Central governments responsible for the current situation and criticized their lack of action. He emphasized that tomatoes are an essential food ingredient, but their exorbitant prices have made it difficult for people to afford them for their daily needs.
The protesters demanded a reduction in tomato prices and warned that if the situation doesn't improve, they will stage a hunger strike in front of the Chief Minister's residence. Their aim is to urge the government to take immediate measures to address the issue and bring relief to the public.
The protest saw the participation of prominent figures, including Gopal Pattam, President of Nagpur Central Block; Ravi Gadge Patil, City Congress Vice President; Asif Guddu, Irfan Khan, Firoz Khan, Mohit Pakhale, Zeeshan Khan, Kshitij Sakhare, NSUI President; Sarfaraz Khan, Baba Ahfaz, Khalid Khan, Vijay Sakhare, Ehtesham Raja, and others, who lent their support to the cause.
The protest reflects the growing concern among citizens about the rising prices of essential commodities like tomatoes, highlighting the need for urgent action by the authorities to alleviate the burden on the public.
