Nagpur Commuters Raise Concerns Over Filthy Metro Station Conditions

Nagpur, India: The Airport South Metro Station in Nagpur, once seen as a modern transport hub, is now drawing attention for all the wrong reasons. Overflowing waste, stagnant water, and poorly regulated surroundings have turned the station area into a civic mess, frustrating commuters and residents alike.

The banquet hall located within the station premises hosts regular events, but poor post-event clean-up has led to unhygienic conditions. Stagnant water, litter, and foul smells now greet daily passengers and local vendors. Slippery paths pose risks to commuters, while the unkempt surroundings have driven away auto-rickshaw users and potential business from local traders.

Despite ongoing complaints, both MahaMetro and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) have failed to take concrete action. No structured clean-up mechanisms are in place after events, and there’s no designated system to manage traffic or vendors around the station.

The lack of coordination between agencies has raised questions of responsibility. Citizens are now demanding clear accountability, proper maintenance schedules, and designated vendor and rickshaw stands to bring order to the area.

As the station continues to struggle with basic cleanliness and safety, many argue that without swift intervention, the image of Nagpur’s Metro infrastructure could suffer lasting damage.
